Wing-ed Wonder

How close can I get?!
Can you take any more bees, or should I switch off a bit?

Great photos of one of my fav subjects - BEEZ. I want a camera like yours. will get one this year I hope. I have a digi point and shoot , it is not too bad, but if I get a clear close up it is usually a fluke !!
I will post afew on my bee blog for your thoughts ..

Linda Aha! Another bee fan, hooray! :) Well, there is at least one more bee tommorrow, but never fear, there are more bees coming in 2009! Now, if that Blue Banded Bee would just sit still for a micro-second! Thanks for stopping by Linda

one of my favorite books is 'the secret lives of bees.' this is 'the intimate lives of bees'. the background color is awesomely interesting in itself.

fun, lavender.

KJ Oh KJ, I might have to check if my library has that, I think it would be right up my alley about now...Ive so gotten into bees in the last few months, from just always loving and appreciating them, to wanting to understand them more, Thanks for that KJ, have a great day!

lavender, the bees are part of the back story. it's about a young girl who lost her mother and escaped from her father, who is taken in by three classy earthy black sisters. it is a beautiful tale and you will indeed learn about bees. love to you, lavender!

KJ LOL! Thanks for the heads up on the book KJ LOL Oh well, it did still give me a firm idea to try the library to learn more, which is usually one of my first thoughts, not my last LOL

MyBudgies Thanks Bud! I had a blast, and then yesterday I used my free time to do it again LOL Ah well, they were more photogenic than the flowers yesterday :)

As long as it's only a photo you can get as close as you like!

BetteJo LOL I was amazed how close some would let me get! While others were off to higher flowers straight away, some just continued to do thier thing, not worried at all....and the only time I was the slightest bit worried, was when I doused myself with nectar while pulling a branch a little lower to better see the bees LOL

Never have enough of bees :-DDD Want more! This is even more focused now. Keep shooting! Very interesting that your bees are half yellow. Ours are mostly dark with some brownish segments... - and see finally a bee taking gum nectar. I do not need to google it anymore! :-D

Areeiro We have many sorts of bees here, I have really to make some more time somewhere so I can learn more about them all!
There is even a 'blue banded' bee here, which so far anyway I have not been able to get a shot of...also there are leaf cutting bees - which I know are around, but I havent actually seen them at work yet...and then you can add in the tiny stingless natives - well, you can see there are so many it will take some time to learn! LOL
(But we do not have bumble bees, I miss those!)
