Not what I bargained for
This iris is not what I bargained for. I won two auctions on ebay last year. One was for a soft lavender iris, and the other a sweet pink.
I got two of whatever these are.
I guess they are OK. But I cant get over them not being what I stretched the buget and outbid others for. Both had correct labels. One hopes it was an honest mistake. One doesnt think one will be buying iris on ebay again.
Anyway....today I am making an effort to get on the boat and pretend I like it. I hate boats, but I love The Most DH, and he came with a boat. A Gal has got to do, what a Gal has got to do!

Oops. Yes, I've had something like that happen to me with ebay. Like you I hope it was an honest mistake. But this definitely isn't lavender or pink!
I know what it is! It's a flower!!!
you know, lavender, i've never seen a pink iris.
i've planted a few things and been unhappy with their unexpected color. in fact, i have tepid purple irises in my back yard that are supposed to be deep purple with yellow insides, and i resent the tepidness (is that a word?)
:)
That is the problem with buying plants at ebay. I did it with epiphyllum cacti and they all look the same unless they are in flower. It takes them some 3 to 4 years to flower for the first time and I know, I'll be pretty upset when they finally turn out not to be what I bargained for. These iris are nice too, but I'd be pretty annoyed as well just for the fact that I did not get what I wanted. Maybe you still find the ebayer who sold you these, and write him an email with this pic attached. At least he owes you an apology.
BetteJo Just about as far from delicate colours as you can get, isnt it? I was very suspicious when I first spied the buds - especially once the second plant got the SAME buds. Ergh. I wonder: whoever was expecting these and got mine, what do they think? LOLz
Ces Oh you Cheeky! Teeheehee Well, youre right there Ces!
KJ The pink ones are so dainty and femme - not like me at all! LOL I understand what you mean by 'tepidness' so it must be a word!
I can be pretty heartless, if something doesnt do the job for me - off it goes! I will find someone who loves these when I am ready to replant that bed (after the hollyhocks finish) Maybe you could pot up those tepid iris and flog them at next years event?
Areeiro I understand exactly - and your wait with the cacti is even longer than mine with these iris...so if it wasnt an honest mistake I imagine they are counting on us forgetting about it long ago....little do they know! LOL
I just got a bag full of iris tubers(?) from a volunteer where I volunteer. Ill be happy with whatever color they are but I would be disappointed if I actually paid for pink and got dark purple. Recently I bought a 2 tone pink pellie that I didnt have on ebay, only to have it arrive and realize the resolution on my monitor made it look different but it was the same thing I had growing like a weed:)
Melanie Bummer! Sounds like something that would happen to me! LOL LOL
Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained?
Free plants are always great - it usually means they are vigorous growers to boot.
I guess the quest for a nice pink one continues, I have a whole catalog of irises - but Im afraid to open it :)
