Oh, now you're making me wish it was spring here too.
Hang on, that's an opium poppy!

Are the bees gone? This is an interesting angle. I love the buds. Is this the kind you can turn to opium?

Beautiful photograph, love the angle. Poppies are special to have about - great colour contrast too!

Barkfoot Hahaha! Nup, its not one of those poppies :) You guys had a really crummy summer, I hope next one makes up for it!

BetteJo Thanks BetteJo, these are some of my favourites, so I let them go to seed, theyve been planting themselves for me for several years now. I guess Im a lazy gardener :)

Ces Tehehe...nup, nothing like that Ces :) I thought the angle was interesting too, I love the hairy buds and the seed pods - all round very pleasing plant, the poppies....Yes, bees are all gone now - just the normal traffic thru the garden for spring - hope your having a lovely autumn up there!

Captain Many thanks, the bees like them too, I was surprised there wasnt a bee in this one when I shot it :)

What a fantastic shot! It is so crisp. I love how thin poppy petals are. You can almost see through them. This one is a great color. Mine are all orange.

Bevson When I was over there I had Prince of Orange - what a performer he was, and periennial too!
I also love the thin crepe like petals, they are just wonderful plants :)
