Whatever tricks get played on you, remember,
it could be a whole lot worse.

There are several diseases (beyond the scope of this blog) that can cause these symptoms.
It took me ages to capture this Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, but once done, he was brought to the animal welfare group WIRES for assessment and care.
Good luck Mate!

Good Morning Captain Yes, this isnt a particularly nice affliction - whichever one it is. Took forever to get his trust - so I could betray it...oh well,
twas the right thing to do.

Barkfoot You know, I never even thought to ask - Doh! But WIRES is great, I know if there is anything that can be done, they will get it done! (Fingers crossed!)

Anon Its pretty freaky (in a fun way) isnt it, these co-inky dinks, Curiouser &!
I wish him luck - he could sure still yell nice and loud - nothing wrong with his lungs! Tehehe
I hope you are having a MARVELLOUS Day!!! Mwah!

AS A SIDE NOTE TO ANYONE INTERESTED:

Ive been being EXTRA careful with hygiene etc so we dont share this affliction with my birds - NOW THATS SCARY!!!
Wouldnt you love to know how they know to come to my house when they find themselves in trouble?? LOL Must be a sign on the roof! :)

He looks like some poor old man who has let himself go. He's got such a knowing look in his eye hasn't he!

Hhehheee, thanks for Bday kiss! Yes it is really scary to think we can catch the same disease and scarier to know it is airbourne with all that wing flapping about!

That's because they know you are a good person, Lavender.....:) Except when you throw some socks in the air...Hheheheh..... :)

Ah poor bird. I found a dove this morning in my back yard with a messed up wing. I was able to catch him and put him in a box with bread, birdseed and water. I'll let him chill for a few days and see if he can recover.

Catherine Now that you mention it, he does doesnt he? I wish I could have done more for him than a good feed before catching him...he didnt like that part much, and after that, he wasnt too interested in anything I had to say LOL

Anon I hope you had the best Bday of all time Anon!
VERY scary (((shivers))))

Merlinprincesse Hehehe Well, you know what they say " A sock in the hand saves the bird in the bush".....oh dear....Coffee time for me!!! (Thank you!)

Barry Sometimes thats all they need, safe, warm and fed - I hope the dove comes good for you. Good for you for looking after the poor thing - if you get a chance, let us know how things went? Cheers!

Is this a live bird? What happened to its feathers. This reminds me of that scary movie with Jody Foster and Anthony Hospkins.

Lavender said...

Ces Youre braver than I am, Ive never watched that movie - the commericals for it were enough for me! Tehehehe
This poor dear was live and stll kicking when I handed him over to the wildlife group...which disease he has I dont know, theres a couple that can do this - and they are all bad....but you know Puffin on Anon's blog - lets keep our fingers crossed that this fella can "Pull a Puffin" :)

LOL! One or two sugars? :)

Lavender said...

MerlinPrincesse Huh? What? LOL There is an old, old Aussie expression to the effect of: if you need to eat a cockatoo, boil it in a pot with a stone, when the stone is done, throw the cockatoo away......so I think two sugars would be the best way to improve cockatoo soup!
