13 days old, Part 2

At 1pm I checked the nest again, the first chick had fledged.
At 5pm, I found Im now an 'empty nester'.

Good luck little Wattle Bird friends!

Observing Mum and Dad's movements thru my backyard, Im certain that one chick is in our macadamia tree, and the other, in a neighbors yard.
It makes sense to get out of the nest as soon as you can...sitting defenseless in one spot for a long period makes you more likely to be spotted by predators.

Yes, GOOD LUCK little ones!!! This is where your SERIOUS bird stalking begins Lavender ... HHAHHAAAA. Going to jump the fence? They know you, so don't be surprised they eye what's cooking in the kitchen or that sandwich at lunchtime ... mine are eyeing Jack's fruit right now! Great photographs again :)

Oh no!! What am I going to watch now?! I'm missing the little chaps already. Less than two weeks and they're up and flying, that's incredible.

Will they ever come back to the nest? If not, will the other birds use it? Maybe you can save it Lavender and keep it to remind you of this beautiful event.

I keep looking at the series over again. I love tracing it from the beginning. What a transformation!

Barkfoot I know! Im at a loss myself, and just as amazed as ever at how they do it!!!
There is one more installment tommorrow!!! And if they happen back to visit, hopefully these chicks wont be camera shy!!! LOL

Ces You are quick, tehehe
I love your enthusiasm and really do appreciate the Award (I will be posting about that soon, Happy Dance!)
Anyway, your question: I dont know about the nest, I will be watching it thats for sure - like youd expect anything else from me? Hahahha If its truly going unoccupied, I might collect it - I was surprised how clean it is! :)

It's what happens with all parents...their young ones fly the nest.

I just caught this post and it drew me right into the previous posts on this subject.

It reminds me of when I saw a birds nest fill up back in my home town as a kid.

Nicely done!
