Silvereye

We are having a glorious rain this morning, complete with long rolling thunder. I went out the the garden anyway, its so nice to have a decent downfall. While I was out I spied this Silvereye patrolling the rosebushes. They come in occasionally to check for aphids. I dont think the Little Wattle Birds have left a single aphid for them, Sorry Silvereye!

Too grey a day for good shots with my Kodak DX6490, but very happy to have gotten a shot of these small visitors - Have a great day everyone!

Your storm is here now! HAHHAAAA Fantastic photograph, I've found Silvereyes just as difficult as Fricken Fairies to photograph! But you have them in the backyard! Lovely softness to your image too Lavender :) Thunder and lightening is going crazy here ...

I love thunder storms. You can send those Silvereyes round here, the roses are suffering because we've had no frosts to kill off the aphids. Too grey to use the camera? You should try England, it's like that most days!

Anon Yes, yes they are just as fricken fracken tough to get Hahahaha! Glad its not just me! Good thing I enjoyed getting rained on so I get this shot - glad youre getting some too - hope the catchment does, eh? Sun coming out now - getting sticky - but we are going to ride despite it :)

Barkfoot NOBODY in the UK should buy a DX6490 Kodak - it would only end in tears up there Mate! The aphids in fall are worse than in spring here - they know when a plant is down on its reserves dont they...I hope a feathered friend in your backyard develops a taste for them soon!

KJ Once upon a time I was given a plastic and dyed turkey feather Cardinal, and for lack of any better idea of what to do with it, I wired it to the branch of a shrub that I could see from my lounge room window.
Wouldnt you know it, every time someone came over, they'd notice that...."That Cardinal has been sitting still in that shrub for an awfully long time."
Maybe we could make some artificial aussie birds to put in your backyard? Why not?! Like they say: "youve got to make your own fun"! Tehehe

Ouch! Mind those thorns!

BetteJo LOL I wondered how he could land on that without hitting one - must be pretty clever! :)

The sun came out again at your place? I knew you took it to go riding HAHA!! My last camera was a Kodak and never again ... KJ can make wooden birdhouses, so wooden birds would be a natural addition :)

Anon Oooops, sorry, I didnt mean to keep all the sun to myself - but it was very nice of it to chase the rain off long enough for us to grab our ride Tehehehe
Yes, my next camera wont be a Kodak, thats for sure!
Hehehehe I hope KJ likes the idea! )

I want a flamingo in my front yard just like they do in the trailer parks in Florida but my husband and children look at me funny when I say that! :-) Maybe a jockey holding a lamp?

The thorns look very prickly. Why are birds immune from pricks?

Ces Isnt it amazing they can stand on something I cant hold without thick gloves Tehehehe clever birds! I imagine the skin on thier feet is a bit tough, and the way thier toes spread would allow them to 'slide' to the sides of the thorns...but possibly its just a skill one develops if one likes aphids???!!!???!!! :)
Go for the flamingo! And if they groan excessively, get it a big flowered hat - and if they grumble more - get it a feather boa - and if they still grumble - GET ANOTHER FLAMINGO - repeat till they figure it out HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
