Poppy Power


I never get tired of Poppies, this one comes from a mix of "Shirley Poppies".

Poppies are beautiful... I especially like their tissue paper-like petals. Unfortunately I think gophers love poppies too!

Poppies are always cheeful looking ... must have something to do with them opening so fully to the sun :) Most beautiful photograph!

Sharon I love that about them too, always make me want to put on a 'posh frock' and go dancing LOL Pity about the gophers, theres always one varmit waiting in the shadows, eh?

Anon Thank you muchly! It was odd to not find a bee in it...usually in the morning the poppies all have bees 'swimming' in the stamens tehehe

Anon Hahahhaha I hadnt thought of that, I wonder how people would react to an over caffeinated biker chatting them up at red lights......
I did go out and had the best time on the downhills - the caffeine helped me get up them too tehehhe

Oh wow! I did not notice that poppies have that little "what do you call that" in the middle. There is a proper botanical name for that. It looks like an umbrella. Did you take this with a macro lens? This is amazing!

Ces My brain hasnt had enough coffee to remember the proper science-type sorta name? for it - but can remember 'seed pod' Hahahahaha ( I promise to try to remember!)
No macro/closeup lens on this one, in the full sun my camera is very very good - but - everywhere else its a major pain - (hoping to upgrade in '08)
