Meet the Budgies: Greywing

Greywing is a yellow faced greywing budgie (parakeet) who hatched just last may. She hatched first, and her best mate Napoleon last, so she is Napoleon's older sister.

Her breast colour is hard to describe; sometimes she appears pale sky blue, and other times, a slate grey. Her yellow colour is also darkening from sulphur to taxicab, just like Napoleons, as they get thier full adult plumage.

Greywing loves to hang upside down and swing, which seems to fascinate Napoleon to no end. I havent seen Napoleon try it himself yet. She has just begun to explore me when I visit the aviary. She especially enjoys attacking the sleeve of an orange sweatshirt I often wear to the aviary. She either loves that colour or hates it, I cant tell which.

Have a happy day Everybudgie!

I think your budgies need to meet Extreme Sid, the brain damaged hero of his own blog. He is a rainbow lorikeet. It takes a while to load but is a great read! Birds Rule! http://xtremesid.bigblog.com.au/index.do

Hi Anne, thanks for the link, Sid is a pretty cool lorikeet! My youre right, the page is VERY SLOW, say have you met Jack? He is a very savvy Red Collared Lorikeet, dont you just love the lorikeets?! Cheers!

Greywing is so much more beautiful looking than when she just hatched Lavender! Hhahahhaaaa. I love her juvenile colour(s), shame her plumage will change. A little acrobat too ... I'm hoping 'orange' excites her, Jack does the same with Bearman's orange work shirt! I'll be back to visit Extreme Sid later :)

Oh my gosh how do you get such great close ups of these birds?
It's amazing!

Anon Tehehe...yes, I liked the softer yellow better myself, was hoping she'd stay that way - oh well - So Jack likes orange as well, perhaps I should wear more orange when I visit the birds....I have a big orange straw hat, wonder if that would protect me from Baiter's affections? Hmmmmmm, might try it! :)

BetteJo Thank you! With the Budgies its easy as they know me, wish the wild birds knew me so well! LOL

Greywing sounds a great character. That's a great close up picture you have. She likes being upside down; I wonder what she thinks you are when wearing orange?
