1 day old Little Wattle Bird chicks

Now officially one day old, they seem to be going strong. It was very hot for a spring day yesterday, and so the parents did not have to sit on the chicks to keep them warm. Here Dad sits just near the nest having a break while Mum had a quick trip to the bird bath.

Tehehe I couldnt decide if I was just imagining them being a little 'plumper' - perhaps they are...see how small the beak is, thats going to do alot of growing too...amazing!
Mum and Dad were taking it in turns yesterday, like a relay race :) I know alot of human couples who would envy that system :)

What cuties and so fuzzy. I was expecting skinny naked chicks. I am so enjoying our reverse of seasons.

So was I,Bevson, I thought theyd be all skin and bones too :)

That fluff is a great disguise, coming from the bright sunshine into the shade near the trunk - at first glance it looks like an empty nest - clever birdies!

Fuzzy babies, nothing better! It's so nice that Mom doesn't have to stay there constantly, nice to see an involved Dad!

Snoskred Thanks Snoskred! Its been great fun watching them, they ought to just get cuter too!

BetteJo Fuzzy and growing fast, and isnt it interesting how much more involved so many animal dads are....she does does do all the sitting, but once they hatch they share the load - and it seems theres no debates on whose turn it is LOL!

Im new to birds...so this is very interesting to me. Your pictures continue to amaze me. Its like the parents are "letting" you take pics.

They almost appear to pose for you.

Pawhealer LOL Theyve given up trying to elude my camera :) I think theyve come to trust me, probally not enough to ask me to babysit, but thats ok! Tehehe

Captain LOL I am out in the garden enough thats for sure...maybe too they see when I visit the aviary - all those birds arent afraid of me, so why should they be??

KJ Oh KJ, youre so right, and they DO gain strength every day - on hatching day, just raising thier heads to be fed was exhausting, and the next day effortless and enthusiastic head raising - I love to marvel at such things, and glad you do too! :)

Yes, I'm saying sweet as well, because they are, and so is dad.
