Snowfields of the Eucumbene River

After Adaminaby, the road takes us back into the Kosciuszko National Park. At first the terrain is again much like yesterday. We stopped by the side of the road for a few moments to stretch and enjoy the regenerating bushland.

But as we continued, the land began to level off again. And became strangely empty. Snowfields! Millennia of winters snows melting, and running off in great torrents come spring, have scoured the area clean. Bar the grass.

This is the Eucumbene River. Its not much to look at in mid-summer, but I wouldnt want to try to cross it in the spring.

MerlinPrincesse LOL LOL LOL I hear ya! Its a head trip, isnt it?? :)

Melanie Hey, the purple one is one of the Dianella family - that you should be able to get from a garden center easy...the other Id never seen before, its lovely! If the seed had been ripe, I wouldve collected some, but it wasnt yet :( Oh well, next time!
Yes, it really does get covered in snow there, and the even more amazing thing is the prevailing wind for my part of sydney surrounds comes over these same snowfields during winter - when they do it makes a very lazy wind!!! A lazy wind being one that goes THROUGH you, rather than AROUND you LOL

It's as if I am going with you on your trip. Riding in the backseat and then following behind you on your treks. Very varied terrain.
