Future Food: Cucumber

Cucumber flowers! We grew these 'apple' cukes this year. Not sure why they are called 'apple', the resemblance to a green apple isnt that strong. But The Most DH says he prefers them, so what the heck! They dont taste any different to the long green variety, to me anyway.

Ces, I will have to try again later today! Fingers crossed!

Ok now I am jealous, you grow vegies. I have the "thumb of death" with vegies. I am great at everything else but you put an edible plant near me and I kill it just by looking at it which is odd because my back ground is agriculture. Good thing I dont have that effect on cattle.
Hence, I shall never be able to show off a vegie flower pic:)

And they give you pretty flowers too! It's a win win situation!

Melanie Now that surprises me, cause youre so good at so many other things...and yes! very good its not the same with cattle LOL Very good indeed, Ah well, you never know, you could just be a 'late bloomer' Oh! The puns I come up with - terrible!!!

BetteJo They are darling little flowers, thanks for noticing! I still get a kick out of thinking about so many things we eat having come from a flower, just amazes me! :)

I'm not sure about apple cucumbers, do they fit nicely on sandwiches? I reckon the traditional cucumber is still a far superior 'sword' when trying to liven up an otherwise boring trip to the supermarket...

Barkfoot ROFL! Indeed! I guess the only thing we can use these for is as a hand-grenade :)
But yes actually, they do fit a sandwich nicely, often in just one slice, so they have this for a merit?
