Long drink of water - Talbingo Reservoir

The Snowy Mountains Highway takes us past the Talbingo Reservoir. It is very, very long, but I cant find info on how long. Strange, as it is a manmade lake, Id have thought some one would have wanted to crow about it...

I love the colours as the reservior just keeps going on kilometre after kilometre...

....kilometre after kilometre after....

...Oh look! Theres campers down there, cool.

Oh alright already with the reservior - whats on the other side of the road? Whoa! Random Modern Art, groovy.

_______________

Our map shows that the Talbingo Reservior is entirely within the boundaries of the Kosciuszko National Park...but the far side of the reservior looks to me suspiciously like a pine plantation - how does that work?

Nice pics. We have the Aquaduct out here in So Cal and it goes on forever like that one!

:-D Great landscape you have there. Must have been really hot... Too bad there is no swimming in adrink water reservoir... or are there even crocodiles???
The last picture looks very artistic indeed. Looks like everything has been placed there on purpose. The 3 boulders and that patch of light green and the dark ring around it. Whats the reason for this strange colours???
A real fun trip Lavender! Thanks for taking us with you!

Melanie Hooray! Glad you enjoyed that! Yes, you are right, it is great to see so much water. I wonder how high it gets when there is more water about, wild idea!

Sandy Guess you know what I mean, eh? LOL Really surprised I couldnt find statistics that included the length - the one thing Id wanted to know :)

BetteJo Those colours are fantastic, just the right intensity to compliment one another, how great is mother nature?? :)

Areeiro Lucky for us, no crocodiles in this part - whew!
But there was camping all around this reservoir, and alot of them had boats - with motors!!! That was really surprising. Must be the water is treated on the other side of the dam....one can only wonder!
The shapes in the last photo are all plants, the three bottom ones are a purple-y flower and look very boulder-y at this size - photos suffer a bit once they get so small, yes? Im lucky I caught this shot as we were travelling very fast, Im getting to be quite a 'quick draw' with the camera LOL

Hehe. I am starting to get attached to the reservoir. Are you covering the entire Australian continent? Are you going to see Ayers Rock?
