Doryanthes Excelsa: Gymea or Spear Lily, Part 3

This photo was taken on March 24th. Now we have a proper bud forming at the top of the spear. Notice my neighbor's rooftops in the background?

Now you can see that Ive been shooting down into the lily by just leaning over the back 'porch' railing - untill now! Now I can just stand on the back porch and shoot the bud - its kinda cool.

This is so exciting! I've only seen the flower when a little late and it's half dead. Will the next shot be from your rooftop?

Lapin Poulain!! My goodness, where does a cute little BLUE rabbit get an idea like that??? (TeeHeeHee!!! When you see how much bigger it gets you will think you are right!)

Anon Hehehe It has very obligingly stopped right where I can shoot it while standing comfortably - I cant believe my luck! Cant wait till its in full bloom!

Honestly I had no idea any kind of flowering plant (besides a tree) could grow that tall! Very excited to see what it looks like, do they come in different colors or are they always white, or yellow or something?

Captain :) The leaves are taller than Iam!

Mark Thanks Mark!

BetteJo Hi BeteJo, just red that I know of - sometimes they also call these torch lily as the flower can look like flames.
